Final piece!

Cennin Pedr

Collage of three daffodils with painted details on a black background.

The theme

Less a 'specific' theme this time and more, 'I like daffodils' XD

Thoughts on the process

The process was... boring. Like the reason this is being done in April is that cutting and sticking card is a DULL process for me. Like the cutting took me several days (spaced over a week) but it was a time consuming process getting the shapes JUST right and then finding a good position for them (which didn't always exactly align with my outlines). I did have a board and a scalpel for cutting (thanks to my lovely partner), which was better than scissors - initially I used scissors but they are so fiddly in comparison.

My cutting process! (Not the most elegant I know)

I will say the painting was much more my forte and only took me about an hour, it did help that it was quite a small surface area to paing

Comparison with inspiration

Cennin Pedr
Collage of Sea Daffodils on a black background, in a style that looks pressed

I didn't base this on a specific work (as I said), but Mary Delany's sea daffodils was what first exposed me to her work so I guess it was my 'inspiration'. As you can see, I didn't manage the level of finesse or detail that she did (I also didn't quite manage her 'looks like a painting' look either) but I hope it at least captured her... 'essence'?
